Zine Club x Samandal: Barrack Zailaa Rima
Let your creativity roam free and create zines together. Bring your own drawing materials. Bring your friends.
Zine Club has been going strong for over five years. To mix things up, every season will be hosted by a creative collective. This season's host is Samandal Comics. Every session, they ask a different zine maker to provide inspiration, talk about their work and draw along. This week, that's Barrack Zailaa Rima.
About Barrack Zailaa Rima
Barrack Zailaa Rima is a Lebanese comic author, living in Brussels. Following an intentionally scattered early career where she filmed, edited, pasted in notebooks, worked for theater and circus, wrote, drew, traveled, loafed around, and made a few decisions, she has dedicated herself to comic books, including graphic novels and press work.
About Samandal Comics
Samandal Comics is a quarterly tri-lingual magazine based in Beirut, Lebanon. They collect and publish comics from the region and abroad with the aim of providing a platform for the alternative expression of cultural and social issues.
What are zines?
Zines (as in 'magazine' or 'fanzine') are homemade booklets of texts, collages and/or illustrations. They're a playground for young literary and graphic talent and are usually self-published, using an old-fashioned Xerox machine.
